About Bobby Cox

Bobby Cox is a veteran combat leader, business development expert, and advocate. Currently based in Greer, South Carolina, Bobby holds many roles. He is a South Carolina State House Representative and Vice President of Government Affairs of SIG SAUER, Inc. Above all else, Lt. Col. Cox is passionate about service to his community, state, and nation.

Having spent time in the military, Bobby Cox understands our veterans’ commitment to this country. As such, part of his platform has always been  (and always will be) to focus on military and veteran issues. Lt. Col. Cox’s role as a Representative is a part-time job, and it calls for him to represent State House District 21. He has been in this role since 2018 when the twenty-five-member freshman caucus selected him to interact with House, Senate, and State Leadership.

While his role as a Representative keeps him busy, it isn’t Bobby Cox‘s only job. He also works at SIG SAUER, Inc. SIG SAUER is the leading firearm and outdoor industry when it comes to innovation and manufacturing. Bobby signed on with SIG SAUER in 2016, initially acting as the Director of Defense Strategies Group-America. After several months, Lt. Col. Cox moved on to a new Director of Government Strategy role. He held this role for three years, handling the company’s strategic relationship and business development opportunities, focusing on Defense, Federal Law Enforcement, and Industry engagements.

In April 2020, Bobby Cox picked up his current position within the company as Vice President of Government Affairs. This newer role calls for Bobby to lead the formulation and execution of the organization’s government relations strategy, overseeing advocacy efforts concerning key matters for SIG SAUER at the national level, specifically engaging with the U.S. Congress, Pentagon, and Executive Branch Agencies.

One cannot discuss Bobby Cox‘s history without learning about his military time. Bobby’s military career began in 2002 as an Infantry and Ranger Student. He became an Air Assault Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer (Army 1st Lieutenant). Lt. Col. Cox earned the title of Ranger Platoon Leader and Assistant Operations Officer (Army 1st Lieutenant) a year later. This led to him becoming a Ranger Instructor and Army Captain. In 2008, Bobby became a Company Commander, Brigade Air Officer, and Army Captain for the 82nd Airborne Division (Baghdad, Irag, and Fort Bragg).

Bobby Cox‘s military history doesn’t end there. In 2013, Lt. Col. Cox earned a new position as a U.S. Army Congressional Fellow and Army Major. He held this position for a year before becoming a U.S. Army Congressional Legislative Liaison and Army Major. This was his most recent title within the military, and he held it for two years.

Over the years, Bobby Cox has received a fair amount of recognition for his efforts and hard work. He received a Bronze Star, three Meritorious Service Awards, four Army Commendation Medals, and a Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.

Dedicated to the cause of veterans’ well-being, Bobby Cox has a profound commitment to Veterans Affairs that echoes throughout his actions and history. Given his service history, Bobby Cox brings a wealth of firsthand experience to the advocacy for fellow veterans.
